HOW TO MEASURE ROMAN BLINDS

Getting the right fit starts with accurate measurements. Learn how to measure roman blinds for inside and outside mounting. Our step-by-step guide ensures a perfect fit every time.

Hand-sewn shades have +/- 1 cm tolerance in length.

OUTSIDE MOUNTING

OUTSIDE MOUNTING – WIDTH

Measure outside the moulding from side to side. Add 5-10 cm extra (2.5-5 cm per side) to the final width to eliminate light gaps.

For Roman blinds with blackout lining, we recommend at least 5 cm on each side to ensure maximum light coverage.

OUTSIDE MOUNTING – LENGTH

Measure from top of moulding to windowsill. Add +25-30 cm to get the final length. Install 25-30 cm above window so raised shade clears the opening completely.

INSIDE MOUNTING

INSIDE MOUNTING – WIDTH

Measure the width of your window in three places – top, middle, and bottom – and use the smallest measurement, rounded down to the nearest cm.

Min. window depth required for inside mounting: 4 cm.

INSIDE MOUNTING – LENGTH

Measure from the top inside of the window frame (the installation point) down to the windowsill.

For windows that open inward, we strongly recommend an outside mount. Installing inside the frame will likely obstruct the window’s movement and prevent it from opening.

WALL / CEILING MOUNTING OPTIONS

WALL MOUNT

For wall mounting, the roman blind is installed on the wall above the window frame.

CEILING MOUNT

For ceiling mounting, the roman shade is installed directly onto the ceiling above the window.

INSTALLATION

Installing your Roman blind is simple and can be done in just a few steps. Begin by marking and drilling the bracket positions on either your wall or ceiling, making sure to use the appropriate screws for your wall type. Once the brackets are secured, open the locking arm, position the cassette track onto the brackets, and push the track gently towards the wall. Finally, push the locking arm into the closed position to secure the blind in place.

CORD PLACEMENT

To further customise your Roman blind, you can select the operating side that works best for you – simply choose to have the chain cord positioned on either the left-hand or right-hand side to ensure effortless, convenient operation in your room. Right-hand side is industry standard.
