Packaging Manager

Nordic Knots is building a global Scandinavian design house for the modern home. Starting with hand-crafted rugs, the brand has expanded rapidly into new textile categories including curtains and bedroom collections. We are now entering our most ambitious growth phase yet. As we launch new product lines we are looking for an experienced, detail-obsessed, and hands-on Packaging Manager to join our team in Stockholm.

Packaging at Nordic Knots sits at the intersection of brand elevation, unboxing experience, operational efficiency, and global compliance. This is an end-to-end owner role requiring a unique combination of technical packaging knowledge, commercial acumen, and brand sensibility. You will be responsible for orchestrating, optimizing, and managing our complete packaging and labeling ecosystem, balancing an elevated customer experience with sustainability, supplier negotiations, regulatory demands, and international logistics efficiency.

The Role & What You’ll Do

Reporting into Supply Chain, the Packaging Manager takes full ownership of packaging across all inbound and outbound supply chain flows globally. You will work cross-functionally with Product, Brand, Sourcing, Logistics, and Legal to take packaging from concept and testing through to quantity planning, supplier management, and lifecycle execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • • End-to-End Packaging Development: Lead the development, structural design, and testing of packaging for all new product categories (furniture, hardware, textiles, samples, and window treatments) ensuring structural integrity, optimal freight footprint, and an elevated unboxing experience.
  • • Supplier Management & Cost Optimization: Source, negotiate, and manage relationships with global packaging suppliers. Own quantity forecasting, order cycles, stock retention, and cost control without compromising quality.
  • • Compliance, Labeling & Traceability: Build and manage global compliance systems for packaging - including market-specific regulatory labeling, barcodes, traceability standards, and customs/import requirements across the US, UK, and EU.
  • • Sustainability & Lifecycle Management: Drive our packaging sustainability strategy, material choices, and environmental impact reporting. Manage product lifecycles, updates, redesigns, and material consolidations to minimize waste.
  • • Logistics & Freight Efficiency: Optimize packaging dimensions, materials, and master carton configurations to maximize container utilization, reduce dimensional weight costs, and protect products across global distribution channels.
  • • Cross-Functional Alignment: Act as the central bridge between Product Development, Brand/Marketing, Sourcing, and Logistics to align design requirements with operational realities.

Who You Are

Most importantly, you are a practical builder and problem solver. You possess both the commercial and technical rigor to manage complex supply chain details alongside the aesthetic sensibility needed to uphold a premium Scandinavian design brand.

We believe you have:

  • • Packaging & Materials Expertise: 5+ years of dedicated experience in packaging development, packaging engineering, or materials management within retail, e-commerce, or consumer physical goods.
  • • Cross-Category Experience: Demonstrated track record of developing diverse packaging formats - from delicate textiles and samples to heavy, complex items like furniture and hardware.
  • • Commercial & Negotiation Acumen: Proven experience negotiating with global packaging suppliers, estimating volume tiers, managing order cycles, and driving unit cost reductions.
  • • Regulatory & Sustainability Knowledge: Hands-on experience with global packaging compliance, labeling/barcode standards, and sustainable material sourcing (FSC, recycled plastics, plastic-free alternatives).
  • • Cross-Functional Ownership: High agency and agility - comfortable moving between creative brand discussions, technical supplier specs, and warehouse logistics teams.
  • • Graphic Design Skills: Working knowledge of design tools (e.g. Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) to create or adjust packaging artworks, mockups, and print-ready files in collaboration with the brand team.
  • • Fluency: Excellent written and spoken English and Swedish.

What The Role Offers

  • • Direct ownership of a critical, high-visibility function shaping the customer touchpoints and operational foundation of a scaling global brand.
  • • High impact across both brand representation and operational bottom line.
  • • An international, fast-paced environment with an ambitious, collaborative team.
