Monolith & Fields
“Age old silhouettes, placed against the blue Scandinavian sky”
On the southern tip of Skåne, 59 raised boulders are arranged in a 67 meter-long outline with views over the region’s grassland, rolling fields, and the Baltic Sea. The Ale’s Stones, most likely erected in the 5th century towards the end of the Nordic Iron Age, and its surrounding landscape has inspired the collections Monolith and Fields.
Although the monument’s purpose has been highly disputed over the years, the magnificence, overwhelming magnitude, and uniqueness of each isolated monolith cannot be overlooked. These age-old silhouettes, placed against the blue Scandinavian sky convey a sense of timelessness.
Monolith is drawn from the silhouettes of the 1400 year old mystical monument. The rugs have a shaggy and textured wool weave. The colours are inspired by the charcoal stones, the surrounding dusty fields and the teal blue coloured ocean.
The Fields collection.
Fields aim to translate the mood and texture of the natural landscape surrounding the monoliths. It has a soft shaggy wool weave, the colors symbolize the colors of the wheat fields as they mature during the course of summer. From a crisp dusty white when first rising from the soil to a sun-soaked sand at peak summer, to finally turning into an almost grey shade by the turn of the season.
The Monolith and Fields Collections are available to pre-order from October 14th.
